Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is impressed by Juventus striker Alvaro Morata’s performances this season and has reportedly had talks with the player’s representatives over a summer transfer. The transfer money is expected to be around £50million.
Arsenal are struggling for a scoring striker for a long time ever since Robin van Persie left the club and now, Arsene Wenger has identified Alvaro Morata as the perfect fit according to reports. Though Arsenal have Oliver Giroud who has scored 20 goals in all competitions this season, Arsenal are not in the favorites list of any of the major honors like English Premier League and Champions League.
Giroud started the season in fine form but the French man lost his touch after the first part of the season which is affecting the Gunners dearly up front. Wenger is once again losing the EPL title race despite starting the season stronger than ever. Reports suggest that Wenger has decided to spend as much as £50million on Alvaro Morata for whom Real Madrid has a buy-back offer.
The Blancos off-loaded their academy Graduate to Juventus two years back, but they included a buy-back offer which can be used in the summer transfer window. Real Madrid is also keen on the player as they are searching for a deputy to French striker Karim Benzema. New manager Zinedine Zidane has shown utmost belief in academy players ever since he took over the reigns from Rafa Benitez and it is said that the French man will activate Morata’s buy-back clause in the summer.
Morata has scored just 8 goals for Juventus in all competitions this season, but he is one of the vital players for Allegri’s men this season. Along with Paulo Dybala, Morata has formed an impressive strike partnership which is considered as one of the best in Europe. Arsenal are also behind PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is reportedly preparing himself for a move to the Emirates.
Whether Wenger will sanction £50million for a player is not a guarantee, but considering Arsenal’s sufferings this season it will not be a surprise if he does spend huge money to bolster his squad in the summer transfer window.
