‘Der Klassiker’, what the Germans use to call the biggest game of Bundesliga which is once again there where it belongs. This Sunday Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund and  face each other in the eighth round of Bundesliga in the majestic Allianz Arena. It’ll be an interesting match between two masterminds, Pep Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel . No introduction needed for Pep but Tuchel, relatively unknown has surprised everybody after taking over from Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp had glorious seven years at the helm of Dortmund but his last year in charge was below par as they couldn’t qualify for the Champions League this season as a result of an awful start to last season which saw them spend the first half of the season in the relegation zone. At the other end Pep’s Bayern won the league again and was eliminated from DFB Pokal and UCL only from the semi-final stage . Nobody had expected Dortmund to come back as direct rival to Bayern once again under new boss Tuchel.

Bayern Munich Current Form and Season so Far

Bayern and Pep have to prove a lot this season as they were knocked out of the UCL twice in a row and also couldn’t win the DFB Pokal and DFB Super Cup. They have won three back to back league titles but they could not overcome teams like Dortmund and Wolfsburg in the other two DFB competition. Bayern has started this season positively despite having several injury concern early in the season. They are on a roll in fact with the blistering form of Lewandowski, Muller and Costa. They have won every match after the DFB Super Cup defeat to Wolfsburg.

They have won all seven league matches and two in the Champions League scoring 31 times and allowing only three. Talisman Robert Lewandowski have scored 14 goals in all competition and ahead of Messi-Ronaldo by some distance, sums up his and Bayern’s start of the season. Costa has been a sensational signing for them and he is the special weapon of their already strong squad. The team hasn’t felt the absence of Robben-Ribery . They have beaten so called title contenders with a humiliating score line of 5-1. Bayern has scored 10 goals in last two matches and Lewandowski has scored a whooping 8 times out of them. The overall team is in huge shape ahead of Der Klassiker and Pep is delighted with his teams overall display ahead of the all important tie.

Borussia Dortmund Current Form and Season so Far

Dortmund also started the season with a very good goal scoring rate but they have drawn in last three matches in all competition. They have 17 points after 7 rounds of play scoring 21 times and conceding six times.

Under Tuchel Dortmund has been more dynamic than Klopp’s version. The wining mentality has been once again injected into the players by Tuchel and his methods. He has signed lot of young and needful players to balance his side. Fans do believe thet this Dortmund can challenge Bayern once again like they used to do in Klopp’s golden era which dominated German football. Although Tuchel will be disappointed with the last to draws against Hoffenheim and Darmstadt which saw them wasting valuable 4 points before the mega German clash. All is not lost though for them as destiny is in their hands. In these matches the form goes out of the window and only the specific 90 minutes matter most.

Prediction And Final Talking Points

Predicting this kind of fixtures is a fools deeds. In these matches individual brilliance can win the game in a flash or tactics have a say and who executes those well can be victorious. It’s the first meeting between Pep and Tuchel and we hope to see some special masterstroke from both of them. Dortmund’s defense has leaked more goals than their counterparts who has scored 10times in last two matches. So no margin for error for Dortmund. If Bayern wins, their domination will likely to stay again, on the other hand if Dortmund has the last laugh this Sunday the league will become crunch once again as the difference will be a mere point between them afterwards . If it’s a draw not much change for both of the sides. We expect to be witness of another high voltage Der Klassiker which we used to see a season or two back, it holds the key to Bundesliga title surge once again.
