Just like last edition of the India’s most exciting football tournament ISL is once again around the corner and it is expected to be packed with much more than last year’s edition. The auction and the domestic players draft has done on last 10th July at Mumbai and every franchise chose their player as their strategy.

Last year a humongous number of players from East Bengal got selected in all of the franchises as the club was the consistent club of India for last few seasons. This season East Bengal’s performance was a bit disappointing. But the players got selected. So here is the list of East Bengal players in ISL 2.

Arnab Mondal: Arnab Mondal proved his worth last year playing with Atletico as he seemed like a wall at the heart of the ATK defense. He standed strong in every match of ATK, even he show his might against the foreign players who has much superior in physically.

Baljit Singh Sahni: This forward from Punjab played regularly with East Bengal from 2010 and proved himself at the every chance he got. Last year ATK took this player under their banner and he scored 2 goals in 16 apps but gave some impressive performances and got retained in the ATK squad for the upcoming ISL.

Mehtab Hosein: Mehtab Hosein played a key role in consistency of East Bengal and last year’s runner up Kerala Blusters by holding the midfield and constructing attacks. He is a genuine defensive midfielder and played with a great stature.

Soumik Dey: The 30 year old defender is one of the oldest among the Red and Gold squad and the team can rely on any battle. He is wiry and versatile and can play as a defensive midfielder when needed. His former ‘guru’ Morgan retained him in his squad.

Cavin Lobo: Cavin lobo is a midfielder who is sly and technically gifted and these qualities make him lethal. This red and gold player made some notable goals and assists for both East Bengal and ATK but unfortunately ATK supremo did not retain him and Kerala Blusters picked him from the draft.

Gurwinder Singh: Another brilliant player from Punjab playing in the East Bengal squad. This defender has the skills and the great physique to form a formidable defense. He can play in every position in the defense and give an excellent performance.

Joaquim Abranches: The homeboy of Goa got selected in the franchise of his homeland this year. He plays as a second striker but leaves a strong presence in the heart of opposing defense. He can also play as a winger due to his versatility. He won many with Dempo and now he is set to win some with his new franchise.

Robert Lalthlamuana: He is a graduate of Tata Football Academy and molded in Churchil Brothers and later in East Bengal. This 26 year old defender gained the praises of legend of world football Roberto Carlos.

Shylo Malswamtluanga: This swift footed right winger is referred as the ‘Godfather of Mizo football’ as he was the 1st footballer from Mizoram to play in the big club and also in the Indian national team. His swift up down at the right side is the headache of any opponent. He has his dream like performance is with the East Bengal under Subhas Bhowmik. He is re united with the red and gold brigade last season and showed he is not out of his class.

Lalrindika Ralte: Ralte is just 22 years old but he is acclaimed as the most talented midfielder in India. He is technically sound player and he has a destructive left foot. By his left foot he scored some astonishing long range goals for both of his current teams. He got selected in national team at very young age and enjoying these achievements to the fullest.

Harmanjot Khabra: Khabra is one of the rare footballers who can play in almost every position from the midfield to the forward. His versatility made him the captain of the East Bengal last season and he showed that the decision is not futile. His strong playing style is fearsome for the opponent.

East Bengal Players Who Joined club This Season

East Bengal signed a lot of players this transfer window. Among the new signing some will be playing in this upcoming ISL. The list consists of CS Sabeeth, Pranay Halder, Narayan Das and Bikash Jairu.

CS Sabeeth: The forward from Kerala will play in the Goa franchise. He plays like poacher who snatched the balls from opponent and transform into goals in blitzkrieg style.

Pranay Halder: He is the prodigy of Indian football and showed his virtue with the u-19 and u-20 national teams. He will be playing for FC Goa franchise this ISL and definitely a player to watch for.

Narayan Das: Narayan das is a gifted left back and it will be deadly mistake to take him casually as he is young. He quickly goes to attack and with the same come down to aid the defense as well. He is a great pick for FC Goa.

Bikash Jairu: He is picked by the Pune franchise. This winger has some prominent skill in him and he proved himself taking every opportunity he can get.

East Bengal Players Gone Unsold in ISL 2

The players from the Kolkata giant East Bengal are Abhra Mondal, Deepak Mondal, Prohlad Roy, Abinas Ruidas, Rahul Bheke, Abhinabo Bag, Md. Rafique and Luis Barreto. Most of them are not selected due to age and inexperience to play in this format. But it is unfortunate for Md. Rafique as he was the winning goal scorer of the final of last ISL final for ATK.
