Chelsea target Antoine Griezmann has clarified his intentions on Atletico Madrid and told he is not leaving the Madrid side just like that.
Griezmann is one of Chelsea’s top targets for next season as they intended to rebuild their squad after a disastrous 2015-16. The Atletico Madrid forward is in fine form for Diego Simeone’s man this season, scoring 19 goals in all competitions. The France international is one of La Liga’s top goal scorers in the last two seasons with Atletico Madrid.
The Roji Blancos bought the Frech forward from fellow La Liga side Real Sociedad in 2014 and Griezmann has proved his worth ever since he joined Atletico. Started as a winger Griezmann has proven his abilities to score and is now a leading forward playing more central roles for Simeone’s men.
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo dismissed all the transfer talks and stressed that Atletico will not sell their main man every season. The club are improving on all fronts and the president feels selling stars may derail their growth. Griezmann echoed his club president’s words, saying he has no problems at Madrid to leave the city and said he is ‘at ease’ about his future.
“I’m fine here, I’m at ease,” explained Griezmann.
“I want to continue here and I think the club’s intention is not to sell, so I’m not going.”
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is said to be impressed by Griezmann and reports from England suggest the Russian Billionaire will splash anything to get his man in the summer.
