Hero ISL (Indian Super League) season 2 is going to take place from September 15 to December 15. It has been a great success from inauguration year. The style & standard of the tournament were impressive and set the bar high for Indian club based football. Therefore, football fans are eagerly waiting for the second season of this tournament and from their perspective; it can get better in next season.
All the franchise and the board already taken some new steps regarding improvement of Indian football’s infrastructure in grassroots level. There will be some new ideas to be introduced regarding to business plan, increase the viewers, community development, talent development, marketing policy and so forth.
Grassroots Football Festival
ISL governing committee already has taken some steps to improve football on grassroots level and strengthen the infrastructure. Nita Ambani, the founder and chairperson of Football Sports Development Limited, launched ISL grassroots football movement at the Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai on 7th December 2014. Main aim is to encourage children all across the country and provide them the opportunity to play and participate in this game of glory.
Indian-origin English footballer Michael Chopra said,
India need to focus on the grassroot development and should groom the talent from a young age. Coming from England, basic facilities is must and all the clubs and coaching centers should have proper youth development. Talent scouting from areas outside traditional football bases would be vital for the development of the game in the country.
Club like FC Pune City, NorthEast United FC, Mumbai City FC & Chennaiyin FC have already conducted the grassroots football and the response was fabulous. The other clubs are also going to start this movement in upcoming months.
EPL lessons for Indian Super League franchisees
The heads of ISL and representatives of all the eight franchisees are invigorating for lessons from the English Premier League. Success and popularity in the first season proves, it will be bigger and better in upcoming season. The ISL has a partnership with the EPL which allows them for a study tour to learn from the best, both on and off the pitch in building a high-quality football competition. According to governing committee this tour will take place between on April 27 or May 4. They said,
As you are all aware, the ISL has a technical partnership with the English Premier League and we are looking at various opportunities in order to enhance that. One of the initiatives, which we felt would be great for clubs, is to have a study visit to the UK (EPL) and cover as many areas around club management as possible
The response was quick and positive from the franchises. All confirmed to participate in this workshop. Official said,
All franchisees have ambitions to be among the better clubs in the world. The first edition showed there is huge potential for football in India. We need to draw on the knowledge and experience of the EPL.
