Manchester City team news: Form, Injury update, Strategy analysis
Manchester City the English giants, are having a roll in EPL. The team is looking confident in the pitch, and have won all their EPL matches this season. The most impressive thing about the team is they have a standing substitute for all the positions in their squad. The players are performing their duty, properly and providing numbers of opportunities to the finishers upfront, with Sterling and Aguero to turn them to goals. The team have scored 11 goals in 5 matches in their domestic league, conceding not even a single one! They also have stats against them though, with only 3 wins in 11 UCL home matches.
But in tomorrow’s clash City will be missing some very important key players while taking on the UCL runners-up. Players who are in doubt before the UCL opener for the Manchester Blues are
Sergio Aguero: The argentine striker is suffering from a knee injury probably, letting him off-field in the coming match against Juventus. In their Sunday’s premier league match against Crystal palace, Aguero had to leave the field limping after a harsh foul by Scott Dann in the first half of the game. Manchester City manager Pellegrini quoted
“It was an important kick on his knee. We’ll see if he can recover between now and Tuesday.”
David Silva: The Spanish storm missed the last match and didn’t travel to Selhurst Park because of his ankle trouble. There is high chance he will be there, on field against Juventus.
Raheem Sterling: The young striker also had a hamstring injury pulling him out of the Crystal Palace match in the dying minutes. Pellegrini, though has officially reported that the injury doesn’t seem to be serious and he can also join the team in their first UCL encounter.
Fabian Delph (hamstring) and Pablo Zabaleta (knee) is out of the match already.
Manchester City will have to bulldoze the opponent in the very first half, keeping in mind that the Italian Old Lady is struggling enough in their domestic league. A home win, against Juventus in the very first match will set the tune of the team for the clashes in-front. Even the strongest teams have fallen against Italian sides in their away fixtures, so City needs to make sure the three points in their opening game. Though the task does not seem to be easy, as Juventus is undefeated in their last 4 away games in Champions League.
Juventus FC team news: Form, Injury update, Strategy analysis
The Old Lady is in a big transition mode. The team has lost players like Pirlo, Vidal and Tevez all-together, and is seeking the time to settle down and reconstruct their game. Players like Mandžukić, Dybala, Khedira have just joined the team, and need time to get to their form. The three match upset is all around buzzing; missing out the transition period to focus on. The recent fall against Udinese and Roma and the draw against Chievo have put the Italian team in utter pressure and the UCL runners-up are seeking some success to get rolling.
Some pre-season injuries are also causing Juventus some deficiency in mid-field. Players in the injury-list for Juventus are
Claudio Marchisio: The utility midfielder is almost out of the next match due to the thigh injury he suffered at half-time, on Saturday. It’s very unlikely for this player to be there in Juventus’s first UCL away fixture.
Sami Khedira: The former Real Madrid midfielder is also suffering from a thigh injury and is yet to begin his competitive carrier for the Italian Old Lady.
Juventus FC is suffering from, enough mid-field utilization, with new players to fit in Pirlo and Vidal’s shoes. The team’s mid-field is lacking experience, clarity and deep-holding down in front of their defensive third. Marchisio’s absence may make the trouble even more acute. However, Paulo Dybala seemed impressive in their domestic league and Morata and Mandžukić can prove to be lethal at any point of the game, the only problem Morata is having is just that he is back from a tough injury. Not to mention, the best goalkeeper would be there down at their last line defence. Now the best thing Allegri did in the last encounter was to rest Pogba and Mandžukić in the bench and brought them later in the game. Keeping these key players fresh may deliver the coach some surprises in Etihad Stadium.

Till date; City has been offering total football down the pitch. The team is moving fast, creating build-ups, opting for chance factors and taking opponent attacks deep in to neutralise. So it is well expected City will stick to their strategy to get over the Juventus challenge. Sagna, Kolorov, Navas and Nasri are over powering opponents down the flanks. Kevin de Bruyne has made his first appearance for the Manchester Blues and is likely to start tomorrow with Sterling or Bony. Iheanacho may join in as substitute. If David Silva makes an appearance Manuel Pellegrini will make sure, he gets enough support by Yaya Toure from deep.
City will also have to be aware of the fact that Cudrado, Dybala and Pogba are going to deliver some speedy counter attacks from wherever possible. Kompany and Toure will have to take special care of Hernanes, Stephano, and Roberto combination. The midfield may seem heavier to the home side, but Pogba joining in would deliver the Manchester Blues some pace in front of their penetrative zone.
Manchester City key players against Juventus:
Raheem Sterling: The young man, (if starts; still in doubt) can put huge pressure on Bonucci and Barzagli.
Samir Nasri: The player is in beautiful form. Caceres will always be under pressure with Samir Nasri to keep his eye on.
David Silva: If Silva is there in the starting line-up, it’s obvious to keep eye on him. He is the game maker; City strikers would depend on.
Juventus FC’s strategy and Key Players:
Juventus needs Marchisio tomorrow. But with him out of the team, Pogba will be taking his place and may have to take care of David Silva. Other than that, Massimiliano Allegri must ensure no loose ball to the opponent strikers. Bonucci, Barzagli will be taking on the best EPL strikers while, newly signed Sandro will run along Navas to form counter attacks into Manchester City defence. Sandro for that matter is fast enough, though lacks experience same as Pereyra in RCM. Pogba will be supporting Sandro to move up and Hernanaes to press forward; with his significant box-to-box display. Caceres must not take many chances down Juventus’s right flank as Nasri may get lethal with the rebound. Sandro-Pogba-Cuadrado-Hernanes-Dybala-Morata pace battery will take care of the counter attacking game for Juventus, while other midfielders and defenders will take the rebounds and slow down the after attack moves.

Juventus FC key players against Manchester City:
Paul Pogba: The young French wonder-kid, will have to justice the market price he is been offered by different giants. It’s a proper stage for him, to emerge with a bigger reputation than just a huge-prospect. He has the chance to fill-in Andre Pirlo’s place, and he will put his one hundred percent to make Toure touch the gorund.
Alvaro Morata: The Spanish striker is back in the team and he always brings a huge impact in the striking force. With no Tevez alongside, he may have to take the leading role up in the attacking third, but he seemed enough responsible to work that out. He can get Company and Mangala fall out of position, with enough support from the back.
Wilfried Dybala: The young Argentine kid, had one a few games to make him count here, but after experiencing his utility in the last matches, we think it would be foolish if Pellegrini does not take special care of this man.
Manchester City vs Juventus FC: Stars to emerge
Kevin de Bruyne and Juan Cuadrado are the two players who can come-out to be sudden stars after the match. These players may not be taken as a star or may not even be there in the starting line up, but they can prove to be lethal at any point of the game.
