Portugal winger Simao Sabrosa joins Indian Super League (ISL 2)

Simao Sabrosa, the former Portugal winger has joined North East United FC for the second season of Indian Super League or ISL this October. This news is really big for not only North East United FC but Indian football lovers.

Simao Sabrosa joins Indian Super League

The 35 years old Portugal winger seen too excited about his upcoming journey in ISL season 2. He shared his feelings and excitement to the press. From the press conference it got clear that this star player has a fetish for India too. Lets see what he said:

I am looking forward to this new challenge. India is a wonderful country full of rich culture and heritage. The Indian Super League has brought football in India to everybody’s attention and I cannot wait to participate in it.

You know something Sabrosa, we too can’t wait to see you in India playing for ISL 2.

And he also added:

“I’m training hard every single day to be fitter and stronger before the season starts. I am going to India and NorthEast United FC to win.”

Joan Capdevila about Simao Sabrosa

Sabrosa is replacing Joan Capdevila, another renowned player who was part of the team last year. The former marquee player too has something to say about the latest addition of the team:

“Sabrosa has played at the biggest stage in some of the world’s most premier football competitions — World Cup, Euro and Champions League. He’s a winner and I’m positive that he will pass his winning mentality on to the rest of the team,”

Simao Sabrosa’s Journey till date

This marquee player of North East United FC in Indian Super League 2 has played for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. He was part of two World Cups representing Portugal and UEFA Europa League in 2009–10 and UEFA Super Cup in 2010 for Atlético Madrid.

He appeared in 85 matches for Portugal scored the 4000th goal under Madrid in 2009 La Liga.

Simao Sabrosa will display jersey no 20 in ISL 2.
