Real Madrid’s former player and the last sacked manager Rafael Benitez has voiced his frustration with the way things are going with his parent club, blasting club president Florentina Perez for his impatience.

Real Madrid appointed Rafa Benitez as the club’s head coach last summer after sacking La Decima winner Carlo Ancelotti. Most of the Real Madrid fans were against the decision, even the club’s legends were annoyed. Carlo Ancelotti did great works at Real Madrid in his two-year spell, winning the much waited La Decima for Real Madrid and other important trophies. But the Italian failed to win anything in his second year for which he was sacked by Perez.

Real Madrid Season Review 2014/15 Rafa Benitez

Appointing Rafael Benitez was believed to be a decision dominated by Florentino Perez and it is reported that Perez had nothing in his support when his ‘hand picked’ coach Rafa Benitez left. Benitez did not commit a crime in the Real Madrid hot seat, but he lost support from club’s senior players including Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and Marcelo.

Benitez as speaking as a pundit to BT sports during Real Madrid’s Champions League round 16 first leg game against Roma claimed that Perez has taken Real Madrid into a business center rather than a football club and he accused the Spanish businessman of killing Real Madrid’s football. Perez’s reign at Real Madrid’s throne is not a glorious one and Benitez pointed out the trophies he has won with the Blancos’ arch rivals Barcelona.

“Barcelona have won double the trophies Real have in the time Pérez is there,” complained Benitez.

As a Real Madrid graduate, it is expected from Benitez that he wants good things to happen at Real Madrid but on the other side, Perez has kept Real Madrid’s ‘Galacticos’ image flying high. Real Madrid is the world’s biggest club and it is natural that they have bigger targets and problems.

Rafa Benitez also talked about his interest in re-joining Premier League but confirmed that he will only return to managing in the summer.
