Jurgen Klopp: The Latest sensation appointment in the Premier League. The German took over the charge at Liverpool Football Club after former manager Brandon Rodgers was sacked. Liverpool suffered a drastic downfall in their performances despite spending more on transfers than their previous seasons. But the performances did not rise up and Rodgers was fired for poor results.
Jurgen Klopp is one of the most wanted managers in the market and Liverpool fans were more than delighted to get the talented German. Klopp started his Liverpool career brightly, but it did not last too long as English Premier League showed it’s true colors to the newcomer. Klopp was first stunned by Newcastle United who won the german coached Liverpool side by 2-0 in the Premier League. Following that, Watford showed their ruthlessness by beating Klopp’s men by 3-0. Liverpool are without a win in their last four games in all competitions prompting the rumors mill ahead of the January transfer window.
Liverpool are linked with a number of key targets and are expected to go in full stretch to get them. Here is the list of players linked with the Merseysiders:
Possible Transfer Targets of Jurgen Klopp in January
1. Giuseppe Rossi
The Italy international is available for a transfer in January according to his agent. Liverpool tried to lure the Fiorentina forward in the summer, but former manager Brendon Rodgers did not get a deal materialized. But it is reported that Liverpool are once again the favorites to land the Serie A player and the player’s agent confirmed that the player will leave the club and he is 99% sure.
Bologna and Sampdoria are also interested on Rossi, but it’s likely that the player will move to England.
2. Lucas Moura
The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is reportedly unsettled at the Parc des Princes after failing to secure a constant first team spot. The impressive Brazilian is very known for his skill moves and will be a top addition to the Liverpool side who already have wealthy Brazilian blood in Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firminho. The Brazilian duo are flourishing under new coach Jurgen Klopp and Lucas Moura will only add more quality to the squad.
The skilled Brazilian is available for as less as £20m since PSG are also ready to offload the Brazilian from their ranks, according to reports.
3. Marko Grujic
Earlier it is announced that Red Star Belgrade have agreed on a fee for the highly rated 18-year-old midfielder, but the player’s father opposed the decision by the club strongly and confiscated the player’s passport to block the move.
Despite the problems, it is expected that Liverpool will get the deal done in January as they see the youngster as a future star to please the Anfield crowd.
4. Joel Matip
The Schalke defender is a player who admired Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp during Klopp’s time with Borussia Dortmund and the German tactician want the impressive Cameroonian international at the Anfield in January.
Matip will be a free agent in the summer, means the player is free to negotiate a move in January. So it is only a matter of time for Liverpool.
Liverpool may easily get their targets as they have a very good reputation in providing a platform for players to build their glorious career. Luis Suarez is the latest example we can give. Also, Liverpool’s new coach Jurgen Klopp may play a major role in acquiring the targets as players will not say ‘NO’ to the German as easily.
Marko Grujic’s transfer is a bit complicated since the player’s father himself is opposing the move, so it will be a stellar fight for Liverpool to sign the talented youngster.
PSG will not allow Lucas Moura to leave in January as they aim to win the Champions League this season. Though Moura is not a first teamer, he can very well play the ‘super-sub’ role and win games for PSG.
Joel Matip may not say ‘NO’ to Jurgen Klopp and may join the English club this winter. Giuseppe Rossi is also expected to join Liverpool by January.
Considering Jurgen Klopp’s admiration for talents, he will go for all the players listed above as all of them suit the manager’s wishlist. If he can succeed in getting renowned stars like Rossi, Matip and Moura we can expect Liverpool to finish above the Top 4 or all the hope will rely on Klopp’s ability to grind results using the youngsters that Liverpool have at their disposal.
