Much to the expectation and satisfaction of Real Madrid fans, Zinedine Zidane was promoted as Real Madrid’s first team manager. Though former coach Rafael Benitez had statistics in favour of him, he failed to unite the Real Madrid players and was strongly opposed by some of Real Madrid’s top players.

Florentino Perez was forced to axe the Spaniard who the Real Madrid chief brought in with high hopes amid a lot of negatives thrown at him. But the project did not last long and Rafa Benitez was fired after just seven months at the Real hot seat.

Zinedine Zidane, the former Real Madrid Castilla (Real Madrid’s second team) coach who also served a year as an assistant under La Decima winner Carlo Ancelotti. Many of the fans wanted to see the Legend in the hot seat after Carlo Ancelotti, but Perez opted for the out of favour Rafa Benitez. Finally, the fans had the last laugh as Zidane took over the reigns at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Zidane is one of the greatest ever footballers to play the game and has won numerous honours to back the claim. But, there are predictions that Zidane, popularly called as ‘the Zizou’ by his fans may fail as Real Madrid manager because the French maestro lacks the experience to manage a club like Real Madrid, the largest football club on the planet Earth.

Roberto Carlos, the former teammate of Zidane and one of the most celebrated players from the ‘Galacticos’ era of Real Madrid had opposite thoughts. The Brazilian Legend thinks that his colleague can be a grand success as Real Madrid’s coach, praising the French man’s ability in TEACHING and LEADING the players.

The former Real fullback also praised the new manager for his understanding of the players and has voiced his full support. Carlos told club president Florentino Perez made a very good decision by giving Zidane the manager post since he felt the decision the appoint Rafa Benitez was not good. Carlos accused Rafa Benitez of not understanding the players.
